Why is Nutrition Important?
Eating healthy is one of the most single important things that we can do for our bodies and over health. If you are someone that does not eat healthy on a regular basis you will find yourself being tired and not having enough energy. You may notice that you are starting to gain weight. Your nails may become brittle or your hair doesn’t grow the way it once used to. When you eat bad everything in the body slows down. Even the way we think and concentrate gets affected just by not giving our bodies the proper nutrients. This is nutrition is so important. This is why I want to help you succeed on your journey to becoming healthy.
My Story: Laryngopharyngeal Acid Reflux
I mentioned my story briefly but when I was 23 I was diagnosed with having Acid Reflux Disease. The type of Acid Reflux Disease that I have is classified as LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux ). This Reflux is labeled as a SILENT REFLUX because you do not know when it is occurring at times (Like at bedtime) and the symptoms are different from GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). The symptoms differ in that with GERD you will get the classic symptoms of having heartburn. With LPR most people do not get heartburn but instead that acid that is backing up goes past the esophagus into the throat (Larynx and Pharynx) which causes a painful burning and irritation as if you have a bad sore throat. The Pharynx has three parts which start from your nasal cavity all the way down to the esophagus. The Larynx is your voice-box and that is why some people with this type of Reflux have voice changes. This irritation can take several weeks to heal just as I went through many times not being able to swallow correctly for two months and losing almost 20 pounds due to this.
I realized that for the rest of my life I have a disease that can be triggered by the way I eat . It saddened me but I knew I had to make a change. That fact the having a disease such as Acid Reflux could cause cancer I had to make a change for myself. Eating healthy 90 percent of the time is the only way to get through Reflux without having to take acid reducers for the long term.
